Treasure Island Beach Resort in Ada was recently fully opened up to the public, after being soft-opened for about a couple of years. The resort, overlooking the Volta River, is a 3-hour drive from Accra and was the chosen spot for a weekend work trip to relax.

WEEKEND AWAY AT TREASURE ISLAND, ADA
The resort is located on Ada Foah road, and being that it’s located in a somehow rural area, the access road was surprisingly better than I’d expected.
Although we spent the weekend there, most guests come there for day visits. Visitors can pay an entrance fee of 50GHS, after which they have to cater for their activities and food at a different charge.
The amenities at Treasure Island include a pool with a water slide, a volleyball court, different types of boats, horseback riding, quad car riding, a movie theatre, a club, and a game center – albeit with extremely limited games.

The views of the Island are truly stunning, and it is evident a lot of effort was put into the interior and aesthetics.

TREASURE ISLAND EXPERIENCE
It seems they don’t get a lot of bookings, so the staff was not adequately prepared to welcome us. A lot of things were awry. From toiletries to the washroom water being salty, to basic meals, it just wasn’t worth the amount paid.
For overnight guests, the resort has a vast number of rooms: Standard, Chalets, Suite, Deluxe, and Penthouse. We lodged in the 2-bedroom chalet for 4. It came with 3 washrooms, and a kitchen with utensils, plates, and cutlery. Perfect for a couples’ family getaway.

Not that there is nothing worthwhile to say. I particularly enjoyed the comfy beds. During the evening, the tropical atmosphere makes the beds really nice to sleep in.

There are quite a number of exciting things to do. My friends particularly enjoyed the jacuzzi and the waterslide. The nightclub is spacious and a perfect scene for karaoke. The game center, however, is super warm, small and almost all the electric games do not work, except the hockey and basketball

Overnight guests have access to horseback riding, the club, and water games, but you have to pay for the speedboat.
TREASURE ISLAND MENU
The food and drink options at the hotel were quite limited, even for hotel guests. There were a few options on the buffet. Every other meal, except for the arrival buffet, consisted of two main dishes of rice, two salads, and protein. The meals were rather bland for me and I ate mostly fried plantains and chicken.

THINGS TO NOTE BEFORE VISITING
While the resort is open to the public, you have to pay an entrance fee to access it for day trips. It can get really cold and breezy so take something for warmth.
The resort also prioritizes the aesthetics of the buildings (both inside and outside) but without a theme, which I found a little distorted and disappointing.
Overall, I think it’s a beautiful resort and I absolutely enjoyed the island vibe. However,
The resort is more suited for day visits and relaxation getaways, maybe. However, if you’re looking for a fun weekend, it might not be the best option.

My overall impression is that the resort is lovely, and I would recommend it for a day trip. You can enjoy all the fun activities without spending a fortune on accommodations, in my opinion. Although the property is in an incredible location, the layout does not seem to fully appreciate the environment.
