My 7am Morning Routine: What Does a Productive Day Entail?

Helloooo, so today I just wanted to share a little insight into my morning, so….I’m writing about how I usually start my day. This is my 7am work-from-home (WFH) morning routine.

This has become my go-to routine when I’m not working from the office because it allows me to take my time to enjoy my morning as opposed to how I’m usually rushing on a regular Thursday morning to the office.

Fortunately, I get to work from home this entire week, so it’ll afford me a lot more time to re-focus, be highly routined, and be a tad bit less social but also increase my productivity levels for not just regular work but other parts of my life as well.

My alarm usually goes off at 7am.
First, I make my bed. How my bedroom looks are how I feel. And no matter how shitty I may be feeling, the goal is to feel better, and the bed is the best place to begin. I follow this with a 500ml bottle of water before I brush my teeth/eat or even drink anything during the day. Generally, it helps me wake up a little bit more. But also, flushes toxins out.

If you’re not used to taking such a large quantity of water at once, you can build up your tolerance by slowly increasing your daily morning water intake.

Mindfulness
For me, meditation is about balancing my breathing, reconnecting with myself, and blocking out excesses/distractions from the outside.
I get to clear my mind, re-focus, and start my day with mindfulness while being aware of my thoughts, and what I’m thinking of, so I don’t end up with crazy thoughts so early in the morning.

Usually, in the mornings, I do my devotion, followed by my mind meditation – for this, I sometimes do unguided or I use the calm meditation website or Abide (a Christian meditation app).

Meditation
The best part of my morning is my meditation and yoga/pilates (although I tend to do pilates more in the evening now).

This is what gets me grounded for the day.

Starting the day with breathing, grounding, and movements, which is mostly the only type of exercising I do – yoga/pilates helps me focus.

I normally do 10-20 min meditation/yoga, depending on how my morning looks like. I like to put on some cute workout clothes to make it easier to twist and bend. I also like to light some candles when meditating so I usually do that – not always though.

Working out
For workouts, I either do relaxation yoga (yes, unguided) or do Pilates with the Pilates app. I use to use an app for my yoga but I sorely use the pilates app now and mainly focus on my reflexes, relaxation, and back pain with yoga

I’ve been doing this consistently since 2020 and I can say that I always feel refreshed after meditating and working out. Right now, I feel a little sluggish if I don’t start my day like this.

My day begins after I shower and get dressed. Whenever I work from home, I put on some cute clothes for motivation, moisturize, apply some sunscreen (yes, even indoors), and get to work!

I hope you enjoyed reading this. This is my favorite thing to do when I wake up, especially on work days.

How do you start your day?
